Cruisin' Southwest Style 2010 (Updated 11/27/2010)

The heat here has been keeping cruising attendance down, just like back there in Maryland. This time of the year, many put their cars away and bring out their boats and other personal water craft. Lake Pleasant is not far from me, and LOTS of people head up there on the weekends!

Anyway, some still go cruising. The 83rd Avenue Cruise is very near my house, so we drove by there in Saturday night. Claire and Bryan didn't want to get out of the car.



There were rain showers all around Peoria, but not IN Peoria!



Took these with my old camera. We were returning from a day trip.

Tonight, 8/27/2010, I hit the cruising scene here in Phoenix with both feet! Went to my first show at Arrowhead Harley Davidson in Glendale, AZ. Over 100 cars crammed the lot. Reminded me of how the Ice Cream Castle in OC gets! Cars were outside on the lot, the bikes were inside the A/C'd showroom.

I must be WAY out of practice, as I forgot my camera! So here's the one and only picture I took with my cell phone.

First Lowes Southwest Cruise?



There is a huge parking lot next to my local Lowes.

Bryan and I went to the Glendale Civic Center Car Show today.

BTW, temps went over 100* after about 1 PM, so we left.

My Chevelle made its Pavillions debut Saturday night!

Did a light buff, wax, and changed out the trans mount on my Chevelle today. Been a VERY long time since I worked on a car while laying on the floor! Miss working at my buddy Reg Dixon's shop on Saturday mornings!



Bruce, Bryan, and I ended up driving an "automatic trans" car over to the 83rd Avenue Cruise. This cruise is the closest to my home, about 10 miles away. It is held every Saturday night, and goes up against the Pavillions cruise. I'll probably alternate between the two. Didn't feel like shifting a 4 speed tonight, so the Chevelle stayed home.

Bryan and I spent almost 12 hours Saturday at the Cool FM 94.5 show at the Westgate Center next to Cardinals Stadium in Glendale. After the show, we hung out at the 83rd Ave cruise.

Bryan and drove over to Scottsdale to attend the Pavillions Cruise. I arrived about 2:30 and there were quite a few cruisers there already. Against a buddy's advise, I parked in front of the DJ. Figured I would be walking around the lot anyway, what difference does it make if the music is too loud.

Anyway, met up with a few other folks that I hope to remember their names in the near future. Had a great time and even got a little surprise. My (almost) twin pulled in and parked next to me.








Place was hopping tonight, this is 1/2 of the lot!

Had a real busy Saturday. Woke up extremely early to meet some others and went to the Good Guys Southwest Meet in Scottsdale, AZ. Held at Westworld, the same place a Barrett Jackson is held, there were over 2200 cars there. Did my best to take pictures of as many as possible.



Later we went to The Pavillions, which was extremely crowded!

Bryan and I hit the Pavillions today after checking out the New Car Show at the Convention Center. For a holiday weekend, the lot was pretty full. Sun was shining and temps were in the high 60’s.

I finished repairing my headlight issue from last week, but did not feel like reassembling the Chevelle last night, so I left it home. Since night comes on earlier this time of year, I need all four of my headlights to work!
